Rahm Emanuel Tagged As Obama’s Chief Of Staff

November 6, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

This doesn’t bode well for future hopes of civility from the Obama Administration. Emanuel is on record as saying the “Republicans can go f*** themselves,” along with several other examples of what decorum doesn’t look like.

Really, Emanuel’s appointment adds insult to injury. It signifies that Obama has no intention of working with the Republicans. He intends to ram through all his campaign promises without any thought of restraint or compromise. We can expect political discourse to degenerate to a level of decency comparable to that found in the commentary on Daily Kos, the Huffington Post, or anywhere else the more rabid liberal element of society lurks.

The Republicans now have to suffer through this level of in-your-face, Chicago style politics for at least two years, in large part due to their foolish insistence on compromising with these barbarians.

Now that the barbarians have been emboldened with a general election win, we are going to have to work three times as hard to keep them in check. First things first; time to clean house…

President-elect Barak Obama

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Our Congratulations to Mr. Obama. We are committed to upholding the Conservative tradition of respect for our leaders. We support him because of the office, though we oppose him on policy.

We also point out that many of his supporters have not shown this same respect to past leaders. We encourage him to use his position to educate people on the need for civil discourse.

We encourage national Democratic leaders to show the same respect that has been afforded to them by their Republican colleagues, and to exercise restraint in passing legislation in light of their increased majority. We express our desire to be united as Americans around common causes, but we explicitly reject any policies or practices that promote Socialism in America.

We claim the Constitutional guarantee of a Republican form of Government which protects the rights of all men to LIfe, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

The Repugnance of Socialism

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

This is a great post

Some of his best points include:

“One must never mistake repugnance for fear.  The first is based upon reason, the latter upon emotion.”

Hear, hear! Fear is not a reliable motivator. Reason usually is.

“No free man or woman will tolerate the loss of liberty in exchange for material comfort.”

This is what Benjamin Franklin was saying in this oft mis-interpreted phrase

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

which has been rewritten by many leftists to support their opposition to the Patriot Act and other American efforts to hold back the tide of Terrorism. But such an understanding of the quote cannot be supported by the context.

Unfortunately, Conservatism often loses in ideological battles because it refuses to promise anything, leaving the fate of its adherents entirely in their own hands. Socialism, on the other hand, promises some form of salvation, whether economic, political, or even religious, to those who might benefit most from it.

As George Bernard Shaw wrote, “A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”

Our Founding Fathers would be appalled at our apostasy.

The Fairness Doctrine

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Here is Chuck Schumer telling us that we must support the Fairness Doctrine if we oppose Pornography.

This argument is ridiculous. Schumer is either one of the most despicable people in Government, or one of the stupidest. I really don’t understand how he gets re-elected.

To offer a contrasting viewpoint, here is Ezra Taft Benson again on the evils of the Fairness Doctrine:

If the Doctrine is evil, so are those who promote it. It is time to call Evil what it is. The time to be “nice” to these people is past.

The Independence Caucus

October 26, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

I just joined the Independence Caucus. Check out their presentation at their website.

I am proud to say that my support of Jason Chaffetz puts me squarely in line with the principles of the Caucus, which has also endorsed Jason.

If it is not yet apparent to you how bad things are in Washington, maybe you need to find another source of news and information. The MOM (Move-On Media) is not telling you even half the story, and the part they are telling you is not even half true.

The answer is to simply stop listening to them. Turn off the TV; there’s very little of value on TV and a lot of indoctrination going on, even in the everyday sitcoms and drama series. You want news and information? Try talk radio. Yes, they are biased to one side of the political spectrum, but they will be the first to tell you that up front, unlike the MOM which pretends to be unbiased but isn’t. The broadcasters of Talk radio aren’t hiding things from you and aren’t twisting events to suit their worldview.

Most people I know, that listen to talk radio, are the most informed people I have come across. They take the news events that are described by the radio talkers and distill out the basic principles on their own. The more time they listen to talk radio, the more apt they are to being open to discussion on a host of issues.

What is truly ironic is that the proxies of the MOM almost always criticize listeners of talk radio as being stupid, uneducated, or brainwashed. Of course, the people who listen exclusively to MOM sources are never described in such condecending and patronizing terms. That, of itself, is proof that what I’m telling you is true.

So back to the orginal point, I would encourage you to watch the presentation of the Independence Caucus on their website. Find out what the MOM has not been telling you about the current situation. And join us!

More Liberal Lies, Media Covers It Up

October 10, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The AP reports today that Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan. The AP then reveals that the firing was amazingly not illegal. The story adds,

Monegan’s firing was lawful, the report found, but Palin let the family grudge influence her decision-making — even if it was not the sole reason Monegan was dismissed.

This is just crap. Either it’s illegal or it isn’t. If it is illegal, then she would be guilty of abuse of power. But if it isn’t illegal, then she cannot be guilty because there is nothing to be guilty of. This puts both the Legislative panel and the AP in the difficult position of having to explain how Sarah Palin can be both guilty and not guilty at the same time. Of course, anything is possible in the fantasy world that Liberals call reality.

The article does not explain how the circumstances leading to the case could possibly be handled without any reference to the “family grudge.” It’s a very convenient excuse for the panel to cover their butts for this sham of an investigation. But again, the left-media is all too eager to help “explain” the situation.

The story also says,

Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report to a bipartisan panel that looked into the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.

Neither the panel nor the AP explained how Sarah Palin obtained “personal gain” by firing Monegan, a point Palin’s attorney brought up. What’s more, Mr. Branchflower is not an impartial observer of the facts in this case. He’s had an ax to grind against Palin for a long time already and should never have been allowed to serve as investigator.

Fortunately, reasonable people will be able to see this farcical attempt at Justice as a thinly veiled attempt at payback by people with an agenda. This is a non-story disguised as a scandal by people seeking to distract public attention away from Sarah Palin.

Thankfully, at least one panel member has displayed some honesty. Sen. Gary Stevens is quoted as saying,

“I think there are some problems in this report…I would encourage people to be very cautious, to look at this with a jaundiced eye.”

Yes, jaundiced enough to match the color of the journalism going on here.

State Sovereignty Recognized By Supreme Court

August 6, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The pathetic life of a vicious muderer came to an end in Texas today.

During the 15 year long appeals process, the UN and Mexican courts attempted to interfere with American and Texan sovereignty. The US Supreme Court ruled that Texas was not bound by the rulings of foreign courts, nor was it bound by federal demands to hold the execution. In short, Texas’ state sovereignty was unquestionably upheld.

And better that it is so, because the man they put to death today deserved it.

You know, Mexico doesn’t have a death penalty, and look what it’s got them: the most corrupt large government on Earth, gangs control entire states in Mexico, people fleeing by the millions. Perhaps if they adopted the death penalty, Mexico might one day become a decent place to live.

Instead there are people there like Reyna Armendariz, a cousin of the executed murderer, who said “only God has the right to take a life.” Funny, Reyna’s cousin didn’t seem to feel that way. Maybe its all just part of that silly machismo thing; you get to think you’re God.

And frankly, it makes me ill to think that her opinion is getting anything other than ridicule in America. Tell the press we don’t care what Mexican Nationals think about us. They should obey our laws on our turf. That’s the message Texas sent today, loud and clear.

Barak, The Ersatz Messiah

July 28, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

In my previous post, I quoted Barak Obama’s speech in Germany. Among Obama’s confessions to the Europeans was this little nugget:

“I know my country has not perfected itself.”

What does he man by this? Matt Lewis of Townhall.com said that the statement bothered him, but he wasn’t quite able to put a finger on why. I’m quite certain I know why it bothers me.

It bothers me on many levels. First, however, I want to point out what Obama’s assumptions are in this statement. What he assumes will tell us much about his thought processes. Then, armed with that knowledge, we can better understand why his statement is so bothersome.

Obama makes two assumptions with his statement. The first assumption is the idea of national perfection. He believes that it is possible, with the right institutions, laws, regulations, etc. to perfect our nation. He believes that America can be a Utopian society, if we just give it a chance, by making the right adjustments.

There is a little bit of wisdom I love: The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good. Perfection, as the world sees it, is destructive to the Good. Good is not enough for people with radical social agendas like Barak Obama. Society must be perfect, and anything less justifies the destruction of the current society and its institutions. This Rousseauian contempt for tradition and history is common to the Social Progressives.

His second assumption is that our national perfection can’t be achieved without the right leader to take us there. Of course, Barak Obama is that leader. He is the one who will perfect America. He is the one who has the vision and the passion to fully realize America’s potential. Implied in this is the idea that he is the example after which we should model our own perfection, individual and national.

If you go back and review, you will note that he uses the term “we” to describe America, but in a collective sense. Obama’s vision does not see America as a nation of individuals united with a common goal, but as a powerful State that will dictate perfection to the masses. You and I are not part of that perfection, because if you and I don’t measure up to Obama’s example, we can be removed.

This really puts Obama in a precarious position. National perfection first requires the perfection of every individual in it. Once the people realize that Obama can’t deliver on the promised perfection, those who believed in him will tear him from his high position, and he will be rejected by the very people who helped put him there. He will find out what it means to be humbled. God does not long suffer those who set themselves up as a light to the people to remain in their self-exalted state. Those who attempt to usurp the position of the One true Example to the world will find only disappointment and humiliation in the end.

At another level, Obama’s statement bothers me because it implies that perfection can be obtained by our own efforts–nothing else is required. Perfection comes not by the Grace of God, but through the efforts of imperfect people. But this begs the question, how do we know what perfection is? Without a standard of perfection, such as demonstrated by God, anything at all could be called perfection and we would still be light years away from real perfection.

Obama’s statement encapsulates in just a couple of sentences his profound arrogance. He is not fit for the office of President. I think we still hold to that BIble passage which requires that he that would be the greatest among us, should be the servant of all of us. But that may just be my bitterness speaking.
