Ecoslavery

March 9, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

This is just evil.

Cap and trade, in other words, is a scheme to redistribute income and wealth — but in a very curious way. It takes from the working class and gives to the affluent; takes from Miami, Ohio, and gives to Miami, Florida; and takes from an industrial America that is already struggling and gives to rich Silicon Valley and Wall Street “green tech” investors who know how to leverage the political class.

In essence, Obama has found a way to fund his socialist programs, AND get them paid for by the very people who are most likely to be opposed to them, while those who are most likely to be in favor of (and use) them, will pay very little if anything for them. How ironically convenient.

Welcome to the newest form of involuntary servitude – EcoSlavery.

John Kerry: Green Rules Not Enough

March 6, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Steve Milloy’s Green Hell Blog reports today that John Kerry is not satisfied with draconian measures that aim to reduce CO2 emissions to 450 PPM. Kerry suggests that we need to return to an emissions ceiling of 350 PPM to have any appreciable effect on the climate.

Kerry understands that current regulations that require reductions in CO2 emissions in an effort to limit atmospheric CO2 to 450 PPM will do little to head-off  “catastrophic and irreversible climate change.” The point where Mr. Kerry’s understanding fails, is where he points of the finger of blame at man-made CO2 emissions as the cause of climate change.

Perhaps Mr. Kerry hasn’t been outside much this past winter. Perhaps he simply has not seen the most recent data showing the north polar ice caps growing at faster-than-normal rates. Perhaps he is just not familiar with the data that shows no global warming trend since 1998. He certainly isn’t in line with those climate scientists that warn that global warming may be on hiatus, but could return with a vengeance any moment; maybe he just hasn’t read the news lately.

Yeah, right.

The one question I have is how does Mr. Kerry stand to benefit from the economic collapse of America, which will certainly happen if regulations are passed which require an atmosphereic CO2 ceiling of 350 PPM. Of course, by the time we get back down to 350 PPM, our economy may have already collpsed under Obamas destructive policies. We might just reach 350 PPM just by virtue of the fact that economic activity in the US has fallen to pre-1960′s levels. No more worries, right?

History of Housing Values

February 27, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Glenn Beck posted this on his site, but I think every American needs to see it.

This graph represents the history of housing values since 1890.

Source: GlennBeck.com

Source: GlennBeck.com

As you can see, there are a couple of smaller jumps in values since 1970 before the big rise begins in 1997. Those jumps correspond with legislative interference in the housing market. Specifically, 1977 was the year the Community Reinvestment Act was passed.

For those unfamiliar with the Act, it provided the foundation of the government’s programs to help everyone who wanted a house to be able to buy one. It eventually led to the practices where people who would not normally be able to afford to purchase a house were extended credit by the banks, and these notes were guaranteed by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. It is this practice which led to the housing market crash we are seeing today.

So, in summary, the government’s policies and interference in the housing market directly contributed to the market downturn we are currently in. Yet, we still largely believe the same people who cause this problem in the first place are the ones who will get us out.

Don’t believe them. We have not hit bottom yet.

Watch Glenn explain the graph here.

Some Perspective On The Stimulus Bill

February 5, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Props to Glenn Beck for the following.

The Stimulus Bill being debated in the Senate today is the most important thing to ever happen in the history of America. So much hangs on us passing this Bill; our very existence as a nation rests on the passage of this legislation.

How important is it? According to Barak Obama, we’re never going to recover if:

  • we don’t get the $50 million for the National Endowment For the Arts
  • we don’t get $380 million in the Senate bill for the Women, Infants and Children’s program
  • we don’t get $300 million for grants to combat violence against women
  • we don’t have $6 billion for university building projects
  • we don’t have $1.2 billion to provide youth summer jobs, and this bill defines “Youth” to people up to the age of 24. You’ll be paying for those.
  • we don’t have $2.4 billion for neighborhood stabilization activities
  • we don’t have $650 million for digital TV coupons
  • we don’t get $150 million for the Smithsonian
  • we don’t have $34 million to renovate the Department of Commerce headquarters
  • we don’t have $500 million for the improvement projects for the national institute of health facilities
  • we don’t have $44 million for repairs to the Department of Agriculture headquarters or $350 million for agriculture department computers
  • we don’t have $88 million to help move the Public Health Service into a new building, not for a new building. To help them move to a new building. We may never survive if we don’t have that $88 million for a moving truck!
  • we don’t have the money to convert federal auto fleets to hybrids
  • we don’t have a billion dollars for the census bureau
  • we don’t have $89 billion for Medicaid or $30 billion for COBRA extensions or $36 billion for expanded unemployment or $20 billion for more food stamps
  • we don’t have $850 million for Amtrak, a train that hasn’t turned a profit in 50 years
  • we don’t have $87 million for a polar ice breaking ship, never recover. Let’s not look too deeply into why we would need a polar ice breaking ship if the poles are melting and won’t have any ice!
  • we don’t have $1.7 million for the national park system or $55 million for the historic preservation fund
  • we don’t have $7.6 million for the rural advancement program or $150 million for the agriculture commodity purposes or $150 million for producers of livestock, farm-raised fish and honeybees
  • we don’t have $160 million for paid volunteers at the Corporation for National and Community Service for the community volunteers, the National — wait a minute. Why are we paying the volunteers?
  • we don’t get serious about renewable energy. Our planet has a temperature. It’s very sick. We have to do everything we can. For instance, would be ridiculous for, you know, me, the president, to take Air Force one out on its maiden flight, to take a 747 jumbo jet from Washington D.C. for an out-and-back excursion to the House Democratic caucus retreat at the Kings Mill Resort and Spa in Williamsburg, Virginia, where the 747 is parked in Virginia. It would be crazy to take a 157-mile trip in a 747 jumbo jet when you’ve got teleconferencing there in the White House, because the Earth has a temperature and that’s why America may not ever recover
  • we don’t act now and pass $2 billion for renewable energy research or $2 billion for clean coal power plants in Illinois or $6.2 billion for a weatherization assistance program which basically is weatherstrips for underneath your door!

Barak Obama says we may never survive if we don’t have:

  • $3.5 billion for energy efficiency and conservation block grants
  • $3.4 billion for the state energy program
  • $200 million for state and local electric transport projects
  • $300 million for the energy-efficient appliance rebate program
  • $400 million for hybrid cars for state and local governments
  • $1 billion for the manufacturing of advanced batteries
  • $1.5 billion for green technology loan guarantees
  • $8 billion for innovative loan guarantee program
  • $2.4 billion for carbon capture demonstration projects
  • $4.5 billion for the electricity grid
  • $79 billion for the state fiscal stabilization fund

Yes, Glenn, I’m insulted. And Barak Obama ought to be ashamed.

Call your Senators and Representatives and urge them vote down this piece of pork forever.

Gazelem: No to Renew the Zoo

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

My friend Travis has taken an unpopular, but sound, stance against creating new taxes and new debt for the people in Salt Lake County.

Read his post at Gazelem here.

We need to be reminded that our duty is to make unpopular that which is unsound. We should begin here at home.

Discrediting Joe The Plumber

October 16, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Not even two days have gone by since Joe the Plumber became an American icon representing all of us that don’t believe “spreading the wealth” is the right thing to do, and the AP has already begun the hatchet job to take him down for having the temerity to question the Messiah.

The irritation manifest by the AP in this non-story is brought to a head in Joe Biden’s response that there are no “Joe the Plumbers in [his] neighborhood.” Could it be that they all moved away after Katie’s Restaurant closed down 20 years ago? Or could it be they all got tired of being taxed nearly to death in Joe’s neighborhood with nothing to show for it? Of course, judging from Biden’s failure to realize that his favorite restaurant had been closed for 2 decades, it isn’t hard to imagine that Biden has been simply never met the “Joe the Plumber” in his neighborhood.

Read carefully the AP story. First, the story itself is ridiculous. It makes no difference whether Joe the Plumber has a license or not. It doesn’t contribute to the debate; it’s a huge red herring, for which the writer ought to be fired for wasting the AP’s money. Of all the important things happening in the world right now, the time and effort of the Associated Press is dedicated to verifying Joe’s claim that he didn’t need a plumber’s license from the county authorities. The story is a mindless, meaningless hack job by a writer whose goal is to cast aspersions on this new American hero.

It’s plenty obvious what the AP is up to here, and it’s despicable. ANd liberals across the nation are now saying, “I knew there was something suspicious about that guy!” So he doesn’t have a plumber’s license, so what? It doesn’t make him any less qualified to ask the question, unless you’re a liberal Obamaphile.

The article points out that Joe “doesn’t have a good plan put together on how he would buy Newell Plumbing and Heating in nearby Toledo.” This point is designed to incite questions in the reader’s mind about Joe’s ability to actually buy the business. In other words, he shoudn’t be asking this question because it obviously won’t ever directly affect him. He’s just causing trouble for Obama.

Then there are the one-line paragraphs:

“There’s a lot I’ve got to learn,” he said.

Wurzelbacher said he’s feeling overwhelmed.

“I just hope I’m not making too much of a fool of myself,” he added.

These are all intended to create an impression that Joe is incompetent to ask the question, thus discrediting him. That last one-liner is actually the last sentence of the story. It is especially designed to convey the impression from the mind of the writer to the mind of the reader, that Joe is making a fool of himself and should be ignored.

Except that they can’t ignore him because he’s put the Holy Obama on the spot in front of millions of Americans. I predict that, within the next several days, Joe and the plumbing business he works for will be cited for not having a plumbing license, and the AP will run another story about how dangerous it is to have plumbers without licenses. Keep watching.

In the meantime, Glenn Beck has offered Joe a loan to help him purchase Newell Plumbing and Heating. We should all be so lucky as to have plumbers like Joe in our neighborhoods. Since 9-11 we have honored firemen and policemen for their everyday service to our communities. Beginning today, those honored ranks now include the everyday guy with a plunger, dedicated to cleaning the out the crap lodged in our sewers, especially the one in Washington DC.

Update: I hadn’t even had this up for twenty minutes and already I’m finding people on youtube saying Joe was paid by McCain, or that he’s a fraud, or other such liberal non-sense. I fear for my country.

Glenn Beck: What Do We Do Now?

October 16, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

And here is part 3 of the series. Please read these. They are fully annotated and researched. Glenn is not engaging in “Republicans-good; Democrats-bad” rhetoric. He points out that both parties are at fault, which is the result of our electing people of low quality who are unwise, dishonest, egotistical, and self-centered.
