I Told You So

April 13, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Liberals Lie. They just do. I would like to think they can’t help it, but I know that isn’t true. It’s part of their standard operating procedure.

It’s really kind of sad–their positions are so out of touch with Main Street, America that the people would not choose Liberalism if given a real choice.

So, the Liberals begin campaigns of disinformation about Conservatives in an attempt to demonize them, thinking that the people, left with no other choice, will choose Liberalism. They will hold up this most recent election as evidence of that.

The problem is that their efforts work on people who aren’t familiar with the real Conservative movement, those people who only know Conservatism by what the Media shows them on TV.

There are four major Liberal sites (The Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Media Matters, and Gawker) that are carrying an account of what is allegedly a Conservative advocating the burning of college text books at a 9/12 Project gathering. The truth is easily discovered with a little footwork.

There are also plans by Liberal groups to try to infiltrate the Tea Party events and disrupt them, or present themselves as Conservatives with outrageous signs or speech. Their aim is to discredit the Tea Party Movement. Don’t underestimate their cunning and subtlety; they have been doing this for decades.

These people love lying. They believe it gives them power. And, as long as the Move-On Media gives them air time, it will continue to seem that way. Their methods come straight out of Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals. Alinsky was a Marxist and a Community Organizer. Sound familiar? It should. Many of Obama’s campigns tactics were borrowed from Alinsky.

The best way to overcome their lies is with the irrefutable truth. So, bring your cameras to the Tea Party events. For every camera they bring to try to discredit us, we want 10 cameras showing the truth. We want to show the world where the truth is.

Obama’s Green Jobs Are Myth

March 26, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Steven Milloy’s GreenHellBlog today has a study posted by the University of Illinois College of Law and Economics regarding Obama’s new “Green Jobs.”

It demonstrates something we already know–that Obama hasn’t got a clue about running an economy and should simply let the market work. Of course we also already know he can’t do that, for two main reasons: 1) he’s a socialist and, therefore, 2) he is far too committed to his position, and his arrogance will not permit him to admit he’s wrong.

My wife picked up on that attitude in his press conference the other day. Did you notice how he said they were going to try new things, and if they don’t work, they’ll just keep trying? Rather than just leaving things alone to be worked out by the people.

Socialism and Environmentalism are a dangerous mix. Socialists think they can plan the economy, which is bad enough. But when you add overzealous obsession with the environment to the planning, you get all kinds of mischief, poor planning, and failed policies.

Obama’s Budget Too Much For EU Chief

March 25, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

According to ABC News today, the President of the European Union said that Obama’s budget proposal was a”road to Hell.” True to form, the leaders of France, German, and Great Britain promptly ignored him.

In my opinion, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek is correct, but an even better description of Obama’s policies was used as the title of a great book by Friedrick Hayek. The book is called The Road to Serfdom.

The author, Mr. Hayek, pleads with the Socialists of his day to open their eyes and look to the consequences of their policies. He argues that the unintended consequences of Socialist policies are tyranny and slavery, but that many of those promoting such policies do not intend to create tyrannical conditions.

Whether intended or not, Obama’s policies are guaranteed to diminish America’s influence in the world, reduce the GDP, lower the standard of living of all Americans, and bring about another Great Depression. Either way, Obama is the most dangerous man in the world right now. I am putting myself on record: I want Barak Obama to fail, because his ideas are so radical and unconstitutional that I don’t beli8ve they belong in America. I am also putting this on record: Barak Obama is NOT my president. I have always believed that if my candidate did not win, it was still my civic duty to support him. I cannot take that position with Barak Obama. I cannot give him any measure of support, unless he completely reverses himself on all his policy proposals.

It’s time for all Americans to stand up and speak out against this trend.

Here are some great resources:

There are many others as well. Please get involved, and help us stop this man.

First Steps For The Fourth Reich

March 24, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The House today overwhelmingly passed a bill that establishes a new commission to study the feasibility of a “mandatory service requirement for all able young people.” This is seen by some, including myself, as part of Obama’s campaign pledge to create a “civilian national security force” that would rival the military. Watch this video.

The bill also creates a “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and declares that “service learning” will be a “mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.” Simply put, this legislation creates an organization which bears some resemblance to the Hitler Youth programs of the 1930′s. According to a comment on Gateway Pundit blog, “[t]here is even a provision in the bill for uniforms.” If this doesn’t frighten America out of her slumber, what ever will?

Leaving aside the fears of creating a new Hitler Youth, the very idea that government can mandate a term of service for all able young people is unconstitutional on it’s face, and disturbing in its implications. The 13th Amendment declares that involuntary servitude is prohibited in America. But Obama has shown on several occasions now that he believes his administration is above the law, and can ignore the limitations of the Constitution at will. And let’s not forget that the Democrats control both houses of Congress, and they are more than eager to impose their leftist will upon America. They have waited a long time for this moment.

It was reported early on that Obama reminded several republican leaders that he had won the election, and that things were going to be done the way he wanted them to be done. Mr. Obama seems to have forgotten that he won the elections because We the People voted him into office. He is not there to represent himself and his interests; he is there to represent the interest of America generally, which includes that of those who did not vote for him. His arrogance is astounding. I heard a commentator on the radio yesterday opine that Obama seems to hold himself in high regard, and looks down with contempt at everyone else. I agree, and we are seeing it writ large. I only hope our country can survive four years of this assault.

America Divided: An Eternal Gulf

March 8, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Reading the comments on the message boards of local and national news sites is shocking and disheartening.

I read a story on KSL’s web site dealing with the economy. The comments were a mix of conservative, liberal and moderate posts. The most troubling posts were by rabid liberals who refuse to see what is so obviously right in front of them every day in the news.

Barak Obama is now being criticized for his economic policies by people who were once his supporters, people who see what is happening to the economy, and who rightly understand that this is not solely the fault of George W. Bush.

But some of the comments were written by people who hate George W. Bush, Republicans, and Conservatives so deeply that they refuse to see how Obama has not only failed to turn back the economic policies that began this debacle, but he has actually enhanced and enlarged the scope of the damage with his own socialist policies.

One poster in particular caught my attention. He was posting anonymously, of course, so I don’t know who he was, which is very convenient when you want to avoid criticism.

This person insisted that Obama’s policies were not affecting the economy that badly, that it was Pres. Bush’s fault for not putting a stop to the problem when he had the chance, and attempted to disguise the truth by focusing on the definitions of “deficit” and “debt.” More specifically, he claimed that Obama had not added to the debt, but instead had introduced a larger deficit which would eventually lower the debt. He mentioned that he was an accountant, which he relied upon as his expertise.

Now, if I had an accountant like that, I’d fire him. According to Michael Boskin, an economics professor at Stanford University, Barak Obama has added more to America’s debt than all former U.S. Presidents combined. Those are demonstrable facts, facts Mr. Anonymous Accountant refuses to acknowledge.

While this is admittedly an anecdotal example, it is the rule rather than the exception. Across these message boards, Liberals are in denial about the effects that “Obamanomics” will have on America now and in the future. And some are even embracing the possibilities. Sadly, I don’t think this is accidental. There is a quote commonly attributed to FDR, “In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens you can bet it was planned that way.” Whether he actually said that or not, the principle rings true. Americans have been groomed by the Media and by Liberal educuational institutions to accept and follow a leader like Obama, even if it means the end of America as we now know it. And I believe that has been the hope and the aim of the American Left for a long time.

Socialism Creates Yet Another Dictator

February 16, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Venezuela announced the death of Republican government there today, with the victory of Hugo Chavez’s campaign to overturn presidential term-limits.

Hugo ChavezThe vote allows Chavez to run for another 12-year term. And being that he controls the media there, and has heavy influence on government employees, it is almost certain he will win.

An election for another term would make him literally a dictator for life. Socialism always begins with promises to the poor (who always outnumber the rich) at the expense of the rich. But it cannot survive free and open elections. It always needs to control of the outcome of the elections to keep itself in power. The people in Venezuela are already slaves to Chavez’s will and apparently are not intelligent enough to realize it. They don’t realize that this is just the first step towards Communism. Seizure of all private property will follow before too long, along with complete government control of resources and production, and finally mass murder.

The most disturbing part is that his democratic opponents are just standing aside, claiming the moral high-ground, while their system of government is set ablaze. Doing nothing, while letting evil men like Chavez run roughshod over their Constitution, is immoral. They deserve the government they get.

Ultimately, Chavez won’t be content to run his own country. He will also want to control the surrounding countries, and will eventually attack the United States. It may not be an outright military attacxk, but it will be an attack nonetheless.

The Repugnance of Socialism

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

This is a great post

Some of his best points include:

“One must never mistake repugnance for fear.  The first is based upon reason, the latter upon emotion.”

Hear, hear! Fear is not a reliable motivator. Reason usually is.

“No free man or woman will tolerate the loss of liberty in exchange for material comfort.”

This is what Benjamin Franklin was saying in this oft mis-interpreted phrase

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

which has been rewritten by many leftists to support their opposition to the Patriot Act and other American efforts to hold back the tide of Terrorism. But such an understanding of the quote cannot be supported by the context.

Unfortunately, Conservatism often loses in ideological battles because it refuses to promise anything, leaving the fate of its adherents entirely in their own hands. Socialism, on the other hand, promises some form of salvation, whether economic, political, or even religious, to those who might benefit most from it.

As George Bernard Shaw wrote, “A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”

Our Founding Fathers would be appalled at our apostasy.

A Letter From A Friend

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

My good friend Nathan Walker has penned an eloquent warning against voting for Obama.

I think it deserves a wider reading, and with his blessing I am posting it here.

Hi XXXXX,

I have followed some of the political dialog back and forth between you and several friends, and have decided, until now, to stay out of the political discussion. (I had intended to write an article called something like “The Top 5 Reasons I WON’T Be Voting for Obama,” but I ran out of time.)

I have been concerned, surprised, and disappointed with the rancor of some of the posts–on both sides. Such things ought not to be. Feeling passionately about something usually means one can advocate and defend a position on principles, not simply spew forth bitter diatribes against those with whom he or she disagrees.

When you and I awake tomorrow, we will have opportunity, if not already taken, to vote. I feel I have a moral obligation, as a matter of both citizenry and religion, to vote for those who will oppose Socialism in any form, and oppose the denigration and destruction of the family, the advocacy of gay marriage, the removal of religion from public life, and the taking of life by abortion. All other issues are secondary. All foreign policy disputes, financial crises, and energy disputes can be resolved by an understanding of, and return to, the principles clearly delineated in the inspired Constitution, and other explanatory supporting documents.

To vote for ANY candidate as a punishment for the real or perceived crimes of his predecessor is naive in the extreme. Those who sow the seeds of “voting against” may reap the bitter harvest of “stuck with.”

I have spoken several times over the past few weeks with members of my faith who say they think socialism is a viable, even preferable system to our current social and economic systems. However, this denotes a lack of understanding. Wise leaders and prophets, especially throughout the past century, have warned strongly and repeatedly about the grave dangers of socialism in any form. Recent warnings have been stronger and more frequent. All who profess to follow a prophet have an obligation to be familiar with their words as they pertain to this issue.

I urge you to watch the two video clips by Ezra Taft Benson you’ll find linked from this page: http://www.conservativefront.com/2008/11/02/ezra-taft-benson-on-socialism/. There may be information there that you have not yet considered.

Any candidate who says he or she will “make things all better,” whether through universal health care, “redistribution of wealth,” social programs for the poor, or any “fairness doctrine,” are singing the same tune sung by another, eons ago, when he said; “… I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.” (Moses 4:1). True equality is agency–the power to choose freely. The enemy of equal opportunity is egalitarianism–equality of outcome. Beware any who set this heresy forth as the American Dream.

It is not.

I admire your conviction and loyalty. I am not thrilled with either of the two major candidates. One of them, however, has consistently and openly declared his support for, and determination to enact, policies in opposition to truth and liberty; policies which reinforce socialism, abortion, gay marriage, removal of religion from public life, intrusive and coercive environmental policies, and redistribution of wealth. I cannot, in good conscience, support such a candidate.

I urge you, and all who read this post, to consider carefully, without bitterness for the mistakes of past leaders, and without the naivete that assumes any change is for the better. Then choose. You are, after all, free. Choose the person most likely to help keep you so.

Your faithful friend,

Nathan

Personally, I believe that voting for Obama because “he’s better than Bush” is a fool’s errand. Nathan says it much better than I would.

Obama’s Plans

November 3, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Here is a short list of things Obama wants to change if he gets elected:

  • Raise the price of gas
  • Raise the price of coal
  • Raise the price of electricity
  • Increase social security taxes
  • Increase government spending
  • Cut military defense spending
  • Institute a carbon cap and trade system
  • Legalize same-sex marriage
  • Begin sex education for children as young as five years old
  • Legalize abortion at any time, including after birth for abortion survivors
  • Legalize the union card check system to deny the right to a private ballot
  • Retire the Constitution
  • Increase the cost of firearms ownership to prohibitive levels
  • Give amnesty to illegal aliens
  • Deny to the states their Constitutional guarantee to a “Republican form of government”
  • Eliminate all outlets for the dissemination of opposing opinions (fairness doctrine)
  • Subsidize unproven or failed “alternative” energy sources
  • Increase welfare rolls
  • Socialize health care
  • Socialize the energy industry
  • Socialize the housing industry

Is this the change you want?
