Another Attack on Palin Amounts to Nothing

May 19, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

There has not been, in my memory, anything equal to the number of scurrilous attacks against an individual during a campaign than what we witnessed being leveled against Sarah Palin during 2008.

The Democrats, in an effort to sway public opinion, and with help from their Media accomplices, threw everything but the kitchen sink at Palin. The sink in question had been spoken for by liberal operatives within the McCain campaign.

So far, Palin, the tough, reform-minded Alaska governor and mother of five, has withstood all attacks.

Earlier today, the FEC dismissed a complaint filed by the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington against the purchase of $150,000 of clothing for Sarah Palin by the Republican Party during the 2008 election campaign.

The FEC ruled that party funds are not covered by the law which prohibits campaign donor money to be used for personal expenses.

Executive Director of CREW, Melanie Sloan, objected to the ruling, saying “It’s typical of the FEC to never take on anybody for anything.” She quickly contradicted herself by adding, “It seems like the kind of thing they should have come down on, but they seem to think their hands are tied.”

A quick review of CREW’s website seems to show more Republicans in their cross-hairs than Democrats. But with a name like Citizens for Responsiblity and Ethics in Washington, you’d assume their primary targets right now would be Barak Obama and Nancy Pelosi. Go figure.

Huntsman Strategist: GOP Loses with Palin and Limbaugh

May 18, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

From the Washington Examiner, a commentary that explains why most conservatives in Utah are having second thoughts about electing Jon Huntsman Jr. to the State’s highest office.

Since his election, Huntsman has taken some pretty hard left turns, such as advocating for policies to combat global warming, and vocally supporting same-sex unions.

Now, it appears he is trying to clear his own path to the Presidency by marginalizing conservatives in the Party.

Well, this Utah conservative won’t be supporting him. And, frankly, Barak Obama’s recent decision to send Huntsman to China is the best thing he’s done so far. We’ve got a conservative governor now, who has expressed support for the work of the Patrick Henry Caucus.

It looks like big changes are coming to Utah politics. It’s about time.

NY Times Spiked Major Obama-ACORN Story Before Election

May 18, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

How are Americans supposed to make an informed decision, if the means whereby information is disseminated to them is corrupted?

The Freedom of the Press never included the right or the privilege to deceive the people, either by outright lying to them, or withholding the truth from them. The NY Times is routinely guilty of both. In this case, it may have influenced the election. I would venture to say that, if this story was published prior to the election, we would have seen more people like Anita Moncrief standing up.

This is how the liberal Democrats win elections: they lie, cheat, and steal in order to win, because they know two things, 1) the American People wouldn’t vote for them with full disclosure, and 2) if they can win before the truth comes out, it will largely be too late to stop them.

Gateway Pundit has more.

Another Anti-War Fake Marine

May 15, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Michelle Malkin has more on her site.

Are the Democrats so blinded by their hatred of Conservatives and the GOP they cannot tell a phony when they see one?

So, let’s see…voter fraud, tax cheats, imposters, liars…can anyone find me an honest Democrat?

Specter’s Opposition Thins

May 14, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Arlen Specter’s leading opponent in the Democratic Primary in Pennsylvania has dropped out of the race, according to an AP story.

That puts Specter a little closer to earning the Democratic nomination for his seat in the next election, and facing the new Republican challenger, Pat Toomey. In an April 24th poll by USA Today, Toomey was leading Specter by 20%.

If the Democrats in Pennsylvania cannot field a candidate able to defeat Specter, Toomey will likely win the election.

Would any of this be happening if we repealed the 17th Amendment?

Religion and Politics

May 14, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The Patriot Post today is carrying an important essay by Mark Alexander, entitled “Religion and Politics Don’t Mix?”

An excellent point he makes in the essay is that the Declaration of Independence asserts that our Rights (a political term) originate not from our political relationship to a State, but from our religious relationship to the Creator, God.

He points out that the Left has been busy for decades trying to convince people that there is a wall of separation between Religion and the State, and that we should never mingle them.

The old aphorisms, “Religion and Politics Don’t Mix,” and “You can’t Legislate morality” are both products of what Alexander says is a dumbing down of American culture. I would agree. I remember my parents repeating the idea that you can’t legislate morality. It was something they learned in their youth, which was originally passed down from the Progressive movement in America.

If the 60′s did have a silver lining, it was that we learned to question everything. For the Left, it was about questioning the remnants of the Old Authority. For today’s generation, the tables have turned. Now it’s about questioning the authority of the established Left, whose chickens are, indeed, coming home to roost.

Cheney, Limbaugh At Odds With Powell Over GOP Future

May 11, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Over the weekend, Dick Cheney appeared on Face the Nation and voiced his support for Rush Limbaugh’s thoughts on the future of the GOP, over Colin Powell’s recent positions.

“If I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I’d go with Rush Limbaugh,” Cheney said, adding that he believed Colin Powell had left the GOP when he threw his support behind Barak Obama in the general election.  “I assumed that that is some indication of his loyalty and his interests.”

Powell has expressed concern over statements made by Rush Limbaugh regarding his choice to support Obama for President. “I think what Rush does as an entertainer diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better to do without.”

Apparently Powell hasn’t been paying attention. Barak Obama stooped to new levels of nastiness in his quest for the White House, using the courts to open sealed divorce records of his opponents. Obama is a pro when it comes to nastiness; he knows the Move-on Media won’t report it.

Frankly, I’ll take someone with a sharp tongue who defends this country over a smooth talker who destroys it from within any day.

Colin Powell exemplifies two of the problems the GOP has had in the last few years–first, Republicans who believe Big Government interests can find a home in the party whose platform includes a dedication to smaller government. Reagan’s Big Tent GOP isn’t that big. Powell said last week that “Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less.” I guess he missed the Tea Party in his neighborhood.

Second, Powell has also said he is a Right-of-Center Republican, though “not as right as others would like.” You can say that again, Colin. Since when was support for more government a right-of-center issue? Powell apparently thinks Republicans must act like Democrats in order to get elected.

Rush Limbaugh has stated over and over again that this isn’t true, that conservatism wins every time it is honestly tried. Dick Cheney supports that idea. “The suggestion our Democratic friends always make is ‘somehow if you Republicans were just more like Democrats, you’d win elections.’ Well, I don’t buy that. We win elections when we have good solid conservative principles to run upon.” Cheney gets it.

More Bank Bailouts Equals More Kickbacks To Congress

May 7, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The AP is carrying a story that would have been merely annoying had I not just watched the “Big Lie” video presentation from the good folks at iCaucus.org. The Independence Caucus has unveiled part of their research into the financial backroom dealing that keeps incumbents elected, wreaks havoc on our electoral system, and completely skirts around the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act.

Their research basically shows how 25 institutions (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, two auto companies, and 21 banks) have received 93% of all the TARP monies that were supposed to go to all the banks across the nation. One problem: the vast majority of the banks haven’t seen a red cent from the stimulus package. Out of over 8,500 banks, 21 got 93%, 553 got about 5%, and the rest has not been dispersed.

But you wouldn’t believe where a good portion of the money has gone…right back into the coffers of our Representatives, on both sides of the aisle. The money was contributed to the election campaigns of these people, and was almost evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. Basically, it was payback for passing the stimulus bill. The folks at the Independence Caucus explain how it works.

So now back to the story from the AP. Why did the Banks need to be stress tested? The government has never needed to “stress test” the banks before now. Banks have always been required by law to have stress tests conducted by independent auditors at regular intervals. But lo and behold, the government stress test, required by Congress, conveniently finds that the banks need additional government money, which in turn will fuel an additional round of campaign finance kickbacks.

It’s well past time to stop this madness.

ACORN Spokesman Accuses Glenn Beck Of Racism, Gets Kicked Out Of Studio

May 7, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Hot Air Blog has the videos.

If it were up to me, ACORN would be outlawed, for no other reason than the fact that they hired this Mafia mouthpiece from Chicago. The guy is a horrible liar–completely unbelievable.

Then, he has the gall to tell Glenn, “You’re just afraid of Black people.” Glenn tosses the guy out on his butt.

My favorite part is the classic, liberal double-speak (paraphrasing): “We didn’t commit voter fraud, our employees did.”

HELLO!?!

The Independence Caucus Research Reveal Tomorrow

May 6, 2009 Posted by Trenton Hansen

The Independence Caucus will be releasing the findings of their research into the TARP Funds money trail. This from Monte Bateman of iCaucus:

The Independence Caucus has been engaged for some time in a research effort to show the connection between ALL of the Senators and Congressmen who voted in favor of the bailout AND the recipients of the TARP funds. We will be doing our “Research Reveal” broadcast on Thursday, May 7th at 7pm MDT, 8pm Central on http://www.Justin.TV/icaucus and we invite you to come and watch and then report on anything you find blog worthy. Here’s is a preview of our findings:

  1. In 2006, the public approval rating for our Congress was a meager 16%, and yet in spite of the low rating, 94% of all incumbents were reelected.
  2. In 2008, the public approval rating sank to an all-time single digit low of 9%, and even after the American public registered 1000 to 1 against the bailout in phone calls and emails, 96% of all incumbents were reelected, AND 98% of all incumbents who voted in favor of the bailout were reelected.
  3. With 8,533 financial institutions in the United States, only 25 institutions (21 banks, 2 car companies and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) received 93% of the TARP funds.
  4. Those 25 institutions are responsible for 60% to 70% of ALL the total campaign funds of every single Senator and Congressman who voted in favor of the bailout.
  5. Those same 25 institutions are remarkably bipartisan with donations on both sides of the isle being about equal, ranging between 47% to 53%.
  6. Thursday during our broadcast we’ll be naming 12 Congressmen and Senators (6 Republicans and 6 Democrats) who are some of the largest recipients of donations from those 25 institutions. Some of the names will surprise you. While no one will be amazed that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are well fed from that trough, however one may not expect Bob Bennett’s, or John Boehner’s names to appear on that same list with campaign receipts just as high or higher than those the Democrats receive. Want to see where John McCain and Barack Obama stand in total donations? Stay tuned.
  7. In our research we go way beyond what the media and the FEC reports for campaign donations, and have peeled back 10 different layers through which those 25 institutions are able to give those candidates way beyond the “maximum contribution” AND we expose the “multi-donor clause” which allows those 25 institutions to double down and donate twice as much as you can, to every single candidate each election phase.

We look forward to your involvement in this, and if you are willing to help promote this event through Facebook, on your blogs and anywhere else you can, your help is greatly appreciated. If you would like to see more information, you can go to the following sites:

http://www.icaucus.org (watch Article II part 1 to start and advance from there–takes about an hour and forty minutes to get through all the videos, so perhaps just watch a couple at a time as you have the time.)

http://www.tellyourneighbor.com/icaucus/ – this was the early results of our research; gives a little more background on the seven points I just made in this email.

Again, please tune into http://www.justin.tv/icaucus to view, and if you want to participate in the conversation in the chat board, you’ll need to register for a Justin.TV account (registration for Justin.TV is recommended before Thursday so we don’t crash any servers).

I really hope this event becomes the kick-off moment for real change in Washington D.C., instead of Barak Obama’s phony status quo change.
