JunkScience.com nails Obama for hypocrisy this morning:

Obama’s Oval Office Hypocrisy
By Steven Milloy, JunkScience.com
January 29, 2009

The New York Times reported this morning that,

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Could this be the same Barack Obama who said last May that,

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say “OK”… That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

And could this be the same Barack Obama who is looking to sign a stimulus bill that would spend billions of dollars installing millions “smart meters” that would enable your power company to prevent you from being as comfortable as Bambi on hot and cold days?

While Bambi is warm-and-toasty in the Oval Office, is he considering the plight of Michigan’s Marvin Schur, a 93-year World War II veteran, who was recently found frozen to death courtesy of a malfunctioning electricity “limiter” device installed by his power company?

Change has come to Washington. Elitism is dead. Long live elitism.

With leadership like this, who needs enemies?

Envirofascists Tell Asthma Sufferers To Drop Dead

December 31, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

I’m an asthma sufferer. I’ve had it since birth. It flares up when I get around specific allergens, like dander from horses, cats, and certain breeds of dogs. It also flares up in the cold, or when I run. My case isn’t life-threatening, but it isn’t fun either.

For example, I cannot go visit my in-laws, my sister, or some of my friends unless I am willing to deal with asthma for a week afterward; they all have dogs or cats. I can’t run any appreciable distance. If I go camping, I have to take an inhaler, just in case.

The inhalant I have found to be very effective is the tried-and-true albuterol inhaler. It typically cost me about $25.00 and would sometimes last more than a year. But beginning Jan. 1, 2009, that inhaler will no longer be legal to sell in the US. You see, the CFCs used as a propellant are allegedly destroying the ozone layer.

Never mind the fact that the hole we have supposedly created in the ozone layer comes and goes on its own from year to year, and appears to repair itself. Never mind that the hole in the ozone layer only appears above the only unpopulated continent on the face of the planet. Never mind that the amount of CFCs used to propel albuterol is environmentally insignificant now that CFCs have been banned in everything else. The pretend hole in the ozone layer is more important than the health and well-being of the people on this planet.

The new inhaler is not even half the size of the old one. Why? Because they don’t want the public to spend more money than they did before. That might arouse suspicion. So now you are paying about twice as much as you were before for medication that, for some people, is necessary to preserve life.

Who is hurt the most by this change in price? The poor people. Asthma does not distinguish between rich or poor. And in fact, if you are in a lower income tax bracket, you will likely receive less treatment for asthma than someone in a higher bracket. Poor people tend to not have insurance, and so have to pay on their own. They will be even less able to pay for the inhalant now than they used to be.

Did you ever wonder why the Left in America is so adamant that we must provide free health care to everyone? There are a couple of reasons. First is to assuage their guilt. They know perfectly well that their policies affect people financially, and they know that people of lesser income are most deeply affected by those policies. Therefore, they devise programs to make up for the harm they would otherwise be causing people, which is the second reason: to provide cover for their bad policies. Once their guilt has been satisfied, they can proceed to subject everyone else to the tyranny that results from their oppressive and draconian regulations. There is no good liberal policy. All policies emanating from the Left are designed to hurt people in at least one way. The frightening part is that the Left never seems to be able to see the consequences of their policies before they are put into action.

So, with this new inhaler will come new efforts to bring health care under the umbrella of government “services.” There are already reports of people being sensitive to the new medication, and thus unable to take it. The inhaler must be meticulously cleaned after each use to prevent a build-up of medication in the nozzle, which would then prevent the medication from being dispensed. That was not a problem with the old inhaler. Furthermore, the drug companies were forced into investing their money in these new products against their will by the government. So much for free enterprise.

Unless I miss my guess, the old inhaler will still be available outside the US. If I want what works, I will just have to go to Mexico to get it. Unfortunately, most of the people who need this medication the most won’t be able to afford the trip to get it. I predict a rise in asthma-related deaths in the next two years. Who will be to blame? The American Left, specifically the enviro-fascist wing.

What I am left wondering is, when all the CFCs have been banned, and the hole in the ozone continues to behave as it now does, can we then finally put them all on trial for crimes against humanity?

The Repugnance of Socialism

November 4, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

This is a great post

Some of his best points include:

“One must never mistake repugnance for fear.  The first is based upon reason, the latter upon emotion.”

Hear, hear! Fear is not a reliable motivator. Reason usually is.

“No free man or woman will tolerate the loss of liberty in exchange for material comfort.”

This is what Benjamin Franklin was saying in this oft mis-interpreted phrase

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

which has been rewritten by many leftists to support their opposition to the Patriot Act and other American efforts to hold back the tide of Terrorism. But such an understanding of the quote cannot be supported by the context.

Unfortunately, Conservatism often loses in ideological battles because it refuses to promise anything, leaving the fate of its adherents entirely in their own hands. Socialism, on the other hand, promises some form of salvation, whether economic, political, or even religious, to those who might benefit most from it.

As George Bernard Shaw wrote, “A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”

Our Founding Fathers would be appalled at our apostasy.

Liberals Don’t Love America

July 26, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Obama said in his speech in Germany,

“I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we’ve struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We’ve made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.”

But I also know how much I love America.”

Who’s he trying to kid? He doesn’t love America. He’s a Liberal–a euphemism for Socialist Progressive; a Fascist. He would prefer to see the America you and I know in ashes.

If Liberals really loved America, they wouldn’t be working so hard to:

–deny us the right to use our own resources.

–remove all religious expression from the public square.

–establish complete control over every aspect of our lives.

–limit our freedom of expression.

–deny us the right to keep and bear arms.

–deny us the right to defend ourselves by any means necessary.

–extend the rights of Americans to her enemies.

–obstruct any movement to protect our borders.

–elect a President who has ties to domestic terrorists, con artists, and Christian Marxists.

–dismantle the America that once inspired greatness, and replace it with an America that caters to the basest proclivities of Man.

In essence, Liberals don’t love America, they love only what they think America should be, according to their vision.

They cry foul when anyone questions their patriotism. Hogwash. They aren’t patriotic. Go research the word patriotic, and you’ll understand.

They are dissenters, but they are not loyal. They preach sedition, and then want the protections reserved for the truly loyal.

It’s about time we stopped playing their word games and called a duck, a duck.

Defend Utah Values PAC

July 8, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

I got an email today from Larry Meyers of the Utah Republican Assembly. He and several others have formed a new political action committee, which they have called the Defend Utah Values PAC. Their intent is to act as a fund raising entity to help elect true “statesmen who will uphold the Constitution and conservative principles of government” to office in Utah.

The Utah Republican Assembly previously endorsed Jason Chaffetz for Congress. My guess is that they will continue to back Jason, and will oppose Jim Matheson.

Actually, it’s getting so most Democratic politicians are spineless wienies in the face of the Democratic leadership. The more of them we can send home in November, the sooner we can all get our lives back in order.

The DUV-PAC Board of Directors will include:

  • Chairman, David Pyne (Salt Lake County Republican Assembly)
  • Vice-chairman, Larry Meyers (Utah Republican Assembly)
  • Merrill Cook (U-FIRE)
  • Don Guymon (editor of the Grassroots legislative report)
  • Chris Herrod (Utah House of Representatives)
  • Lowell Nelson (President, Utah Republican Liberty Caucus)
  • Mike Thompson (Utah County Republican Assembly and former State Representative)

I noticed no-one from the Sutherland Institute was on the list, which makes sense considering their recent statements concerning Immigration reform. It appears they are more “Doug Wright Republicans” than Conservatives. They have allowed themselves to be caught in the compassion trap, i.e. where Mercy robs Justice and the Rule of Law is set aside with flawed arguments about how the kids are innocent.

Their position on immigration is simply Liberalism hiding among Conservative ideas–kind of like how our mothers told us that the Devil will tell us a thousand truths if he can get us to believe one lie. Don’t buy the lie. It’s the ice cream with just a tiny bit of dog poop in it.

I don’t agree with everything in the DUV-PAC platform, but I think they deserve our support.

Resolution Day

July 5, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

I’ve been thinking over the weekend.

I’m proposing that we keep July 2nd as Resolution Day. It was on July 2nd that the Continental Congress passed the resolution to become independent from Great Britain. John Adams thought that July 2nd should forever be celebrated with fireworks and parades. Instead, we adopted the 4th, the day the Declaration was actually signed, as the day we celebrate.

But July 2nd should have a different meaning for us. It should give us cause to reflect on why we signed that declaration. What did declare our Independence from?

If you will recall, at the time of the signing, Great Britain was in control of the colonies. She ruled us under the Monarchy of King George. One of the reasons mentioned as the cause of our troubles was that the King had become mentally ill. And certainly his edicts demonstrate that his ability to reason may have been compromised. One example is his paranoid response to the “Olive Branch” petition sent by Congress. He believed the Congress was being led by a group of conspirators. At the time, nothing could have been further from the truth.

But keep in mind, also, that Britain not only ruled us politically, but economically. She controlled our imports, our exports, our weights and measures, and our shipping and trade. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against being forced to buy English tea, which purchase was then subject to taxation. It was a way to indirectly force the colonies to pay the tax, and the colonists hated it.

In fine, the English controlled what we could buy and sell and to whom. It was, from the viewpoint of the colonies, a state-controlled economy. The state controlled the means of production and distribution within the colonies.

Whether they knew it at the time or not, our Founding Fathers were rebelling against a form of limited, focused socialism. It was something they were not used to, and they rightly saw it as a threat to their economic well-being.

The Declaration of Independence enumerates several specific grievances against the king, all of which culminate in a final charge of tyranny.

A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

As you read each of those grievances, compare them to the complaints that come out of socialist governments. I think you will find they are very similar. We fought a war to rid ourselves of this kind of illegitimate government. Why, then, do we now accept it as the “natural evolution” of our system of government?

Our Founding Fathers were not so unwise as to be blind to the possibilities which their vision might one day create. The government that the liberals and Barak Obama would foist upon unsuspecting Americans will bring the same results that we petitioned against in 1776. It is not the government our Founders created.

To bring this to a point, I propose a day of reflection to occur every July 2. It will be called Resolution Day, a day to renew our resolve to never allow ourselves or any person live under any form of tyranny forever. It will be a day to relearn and celebrate our heritage and our history, and a day to expose and reject those forms of government that are calculated to bring people under the yoke of bondage. It will become a precursor to Independence Day, when we celebrate the realization of our struggle for Liberty.

My Resolution begins now. Patrick Henry once said, “Give me Liberty, or give me Death!” To his words I add the following: “Be forewarned, for Liberty is as Life to me, and I will defend both with blood, be it mine or my enemy’s.”

Idiots from the Planet Stupid

June 17, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Here’s a fine example of why Barak Obama must be defeated in November. With morons like this guy supporting his positions, we’ll all soon be enjoying the fruits of American Liberalism–we’ll all be dirt poor, our standard of living will fall through the floor, we will see the rise of a new European lifestyle in the big cities of America, and abject poverty and death in the small towns, the jobless rate will skyrocket, and crime rates will follow, and a depression far deeper and more vast will begin here in America as corporations move overseas, and will engulf the entire global economy that will last for at least 4 years.

This is why the Electoral College is so vitally important–more so now than ever. If it were up to the educated idiots who live in places like New York and Los Angeles, the rest of the country would have become a trash heap long ago. These people think nothing exists beyond what they can see from the tallest skyscraper. To their understanding, there are no wide stretches of open land in America. There is only a 200-mile stretch once you leave New York before you get to L.A. The only reason they don’t travel there via ground transportation is because the subways don’t connect.

Sean Hannity repeated a quote by someone, I forget who, who could not understand how a Republican could win in an election, when nobody they knew voted for them. It’s the same principle on a larger scale. They don’t believe anything exists outside their own little sphere.

And the sphere includes not just space, but time as well. They are completely ignorant of the lessons of experience and history. You can’t point out to them how the policies of Barak Obama are not much more than Jimmy Carter’s policies revisited, and therefore will have a similar effect. The difference is that because of this lame-brained tendency to refuse to learn the correct lessons, they think these policies will work this time if only they try harder, or work at making government even larger and more powerful, or take more of our money. They think it will be different because the people involved are different.

Barak Obama is a full-blown Marxist. If he gets elected, America will have fulfilled Nikita Khrushchev’s prediction of one day becoming a Communist nation by our own stupidity:

You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept Communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have Communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.

Given the behavior of the current Democratic leadership, and the goals of Barak Obama and his liberal friends, is there any wonder about whom Khrushchev was speaking when he said “we.” there is only one explanation for the complete opposition by the Democrats to forestall the slide of our economy into chaos and wreckage by allowing us to drill for oil in our own country, only one explanation for their policies of the past 40 years. They have become the enemy. Traitors to their own people, they have sold themselves out for the chance to wield power over mankind. They are Stalin’s useful idiots. They are not our countrymen; they do not belong among us.

The 15 Theses

June 5, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

When Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg, he was challenging the authority of the prevailing religion of the day, the Catholic Church. In a way, his struggle mirrors our own today.

Instead of an infallible Pope, we have Al Gore unilaterally pronouncing the debate over. Instead of corrupt priests, we have climate scientists parroting the “Pope” in exchange for favors. I could go on.

Recognizing I am about 80 short, I hereby post my own 15 statements of rebellion against the new Universal Church of the Earth. I call this “My Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Climate Legislation, including the Kyoto Protocol.”

I deny that Global Warming has any significant connection to human industrial activities.

I deny that we are destroying the planet.

I deny the claims that we are causing glaciers to melt, polar bears to drown, arctic ice to retreat, sea levels to rise, acne to increase, or any of the numberless things that have recently been attributed to Climate Change.

I deny the assertion that humans are parasites, a cancer, a plague, or any other fear-laden word abused by green activists.

I deny environmentalists any right to impose legislation that will adversely affect my way of life, or that will harm my family’s way of life.

I deny the false assertion that eco-activists have any concern for human welfare.

I deny the assumption that we must change our way of life to more closely match those of third-world countries in order to protect the environment.

I deny Barak Obama’s claim that leadership in the world means we should acquiesce to the demands of other countries regarding how much we can eat, what we can drive, or how we should live.

I deny that our American way of life is a threat to other nations.

I deny that the Kyoto Protocol will do anything about cooling the planet.

I deny the assertion that CO2 is a pollutant, and that it is harmful to the planet.

I deny that we can stop Global Warming, or Climate Change, or whatever other term the environmentalists wish to abuse this month.

I deny that the Left can come up with anything positive for human progress.

I deny that Leftists have any right to call America home while they work tirelessly to pull it apart and destroy it.

In conclusion, I am willing to concede that I can be called a denier. I’m in good company. Given that the temperature decrease of this year alone has offset the past 100 years of warming, and that the IPCC has predicted a cooling trend for at least the next 15 years, how can anyone who now continues to claim that human activities are to blame for climate change expect to be taken seriously? Some people will continue this “struggle” to save the planet in the face of mounting evidence that that our planet doesn’t need saving. They want one of two things: a cause or power. It’s not hard to see who wants which.

I am a denier, and as far as it is in my ability I will deny both of these things to those who have proven that they will only abuse them. I encourage you to do the same.

Judicial Overreach Stalls Polygamist Family Reunion

May 31, 2008 Posted by Trenton Hansen

Talks between Warren Jeffs’s polygamist sect Yearning for Zion and the State of Texas fell apart Friday when a district court judge decided to expand the ruling of the Texas Supreme Court and add additional restrictions and qualifications that must be met before the children will be returned to their families.

Judge Barbara Walther did not produce any authorization under State law for this usurpation of authority, to which several attorneys for the sect rightly objected. They pointed out that she had no right to expand on a ruling made by a higher court, and they counseled their clients not to sign the new requirements.

MSN has one version of the story here. I believe with this expansion of the ruling, many people will focus on the judge’s justifications but completely miss the whole point of the case.

It is essentially about legal kidnapping. And the Yearning for Zion group proved in court that the State Child Protective Services removed those 400 children under the color of law, but without legal justification. If you or I were to do the same, we would be prosecuted as kidnappers facing serious prison time. Since when does any government agency have the right to seize anything without due process, even if the life of a child is threatened?

The Texas Supreme Court ruling basically says the Texas CPS agency was wrong to remove those children. Now what would you or I do in such a case? Apologize? Hopefully, and do everything we could to right the wrong. So what does the State of Texas do? I have yet to hear any apologies from any state official, and instead of seeking to return the children as quickly as possible, officials are finding excuses not to return the children.

To make matters worse, this district judge refuses to let any of the children return to their families unless her demands are met. What is this other than legal terrorism? What is this other than blackmail? She holds the fate of the children in her hands, and unless she gets what she wants, she will ignore the Supreme Court’s ruling. She is holding these families hostage, and who is going to stop her? In my opinion, Judge Walther believes she can make such demands because her aim is only to keep the children away from their birth parents for as long as possible, hoping that exposure to other lifestyles will eventually break down the cult’s hold on them.

Where are we headed when the judges and the government ignore the Rule of Law? Judge Walther, by her actions, is demonstrating that in her jurisdictions the law of will prevails–her will. But the rule of will is tyranny. How long will we let officials trample on our rights like this? How long will it be before your children are threatened with removal because of some unproven allegation? Will you just stand there and let it happen?

Our officials need to be constantly reminded that they are bound by the law as much as any other citizen. We should be reminding them often that their authority is not granted by the office they hold, but by We the People who created those offices. We must not tolerate the government overreaching it’s legal bounds for any reason, no matter how well-intentioned.
