McCain Loses Big

By Trenton Hansen

Well, what did we expect?

The best candidate got voted down because he was Mormon. So instead the Religious Right helped pick a candidate that was little better then Bob Dole, who had no message, had no charm, no charisma, no debate skills, and little chance of winning. I hope you folks are satisfied with the results.

Those people who said voting for Romney was a vote for Satan, instead ended up with a Marxist for a President. I’m still not convinced there is much difference there.

Sarah Palin’s addition to the ticket was exciting, but wasn’t enough to carry the day. It probably didn’t help that McCain refused to take Obama to the mat on the issues, and refused to defend Palin when she came under attack by the Media.

It seems our heroes are best left out of Politics. The “American hero” schtick has not worked for decades, as proven by Dole, Kerry, and now McCain.

The GOP needs a rebirth. It’s leadership has been incompetent for the last several years, and it has leaned too far left to be able to win. American wanted Change. The people are tired of hearing about Republicans who act like Democrats when it comes to spending, size of government, ethics violations, and sex scandals.

Obama’s only handicap was his ideology, and since most voters now don’t know or don’t remember what Socialism is, it became a non-issue. McCain had a divorce, an alleged affair, and a penchant for wandering off the message. He was a maverick, but that can become a liability. I think he proved that well enough.

Obama has an intact family, he has kids, he has no scandals in his background (that we know of), and he is charming and charismatic. Compared to the rest of Washington DC, he seems like a breath of fresh air. Next to him, McCain falls way short. America was asking for change.

The only early candidate who could have compared with Obama was Mitt Romney. Romney was the best hope for change on the GOP ticket. But the Evangelical crowd was too superstitious to vote for him. Winning wasn’t as important as keeping the status quo. They helped Obama win tonight.

America got Change. I just don’t think we meant the kind of change we’re in for.
