Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) is circulating a pledge among House members that signifies their willingness to rely more heavily on our own, domestic resources.

As of 4:00 PM MDT on June 17, 2008, Congressman Chris Cannon’s name is not on the list. Why not? Maybe he’s just too busy talking about it.

Those who have signed to date:

Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.)
Tom Price (R-Ga.)
Paul Broun (R-Ga.)
Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.)
Patrick McHenry (R-NC)
Wally Herger (R-Calif.)
George Radanovich (R-Calif.)
Pat Tiberi (R-Ohio)
Mike Conaway (R-Texas)
John Culberson (R-Texas)
Tom Reynolds (R-NY)
Greg Walden (R-Ore.)
Bill Shuster (R-Pa.)
Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.)
Dan Burton (R-Ind.)

Chris Cannon’s actions rarely match his rhetoric. We have been putting up with this for 12 years, and it gets worse each year. It’s time for his retirement!

Of course he won’t sign it. He can’t even remember the number of his own bill. It’ll all go bye-bye after the primary, you watch. There are sure a lot of unhappy constituents in 3rd district - maybe chris will go the bye-bye like his bill. And too bad Glenn Beck didn’t back the better candidate. . . .

Chris Cannon’s name is somehow missing from this list. We have got to use some of our own resources and not be so reliant upon foreign governments at our energy needs. Conservation is part of the process, but realism says we need to be more self-sufficient in this area. Apparently, Mr. Cannon doesn’t see things this way. I’m ready for a change in Washington!

I’m most impressed by politicians that recognize that real progress comes from the free market and their efforts are to remove barriers to innovation and reduce the burdens of government.

Pledges to reduce prices are therefore deceptive. If they propose price controls they we are trading high prices with rationing and waiting in line for our share.

Jason Chaffetz understands the proper role of government in these areas. One minute I think Cannon understands and the next minute I’m sure he’s never heard that the there is such a thing as a “proper role” for government.
