Larry Craig and Bill Clinton
You know, I am so tired of hearing people calling Larry Craig a hypocrite. It can be easily demonstrated that in fact he is not.
I have heard many people say Craig is a hypocrite because he has voted against gay marriage and other pro-gay laws while he himself is allegedly gay. The evidence that he is gay is limited entirely to the testimony of a cop referring to an incident in an airport restroom. But there was no sex involved. There is no proof that Craig is gay, even if he was soliciting.
As far as the charge of hypocrisy goes, Craig represents a certain constituency in Idaho which is generally not favorable to laws designed to give gays more protections that the rest of us. Craig’s voting is consistent with the wishes of his constituency. Remember that previous to this revelation, Craig’s voting record was not much of a source of discussion. Now that his actions are public knowledge, the charge of hypocrisy is brought up to pressure him to leave office because there is no real requirement that he leave office.
So if Craig must leave office because of his “hypocrisy,” why has half the Democratic party not left office yet? If you will recall, a certain Democrat was given a standing ovation by his party when it was revealed that he had sex with an underage, male intern and refused to leave office.
The Democrats have the world monopoly on hypocrisy. The only real difference is we expect them to be corrupt, and they are ok with that.
