Supreme Court Upholds Legal Plunder

It appears, in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling, that Liberals are no longer concealing their real character. Perhaps, in their waning days, they realize they have little to lose and are pulling out all the stops in their last grasp for power.

Liberal Democrats have long proclaimed themselves the party of the “little guy,” the oppressed and the downtrodden. Today’s liberal majority ruling puts the lie to that claim. Now Liberals are no longer even pretending to protect those little people–subjects of an all-powerful State which owns them, their labor and their property. Liberals hate lesser folk because they have thoughts of (ugh) “Individualism” and “Liberty.”

Similar policies pushed our separation from the English in 1776. The Crown assumed that ultimately it owned all property within the bounds of its Empire. The Constitution was written, in part, to protect our rights against such tyranny. Now the Supreme Court has ruled that our Founding Fathers were wrong, and has restored the assumption of ultimate ownership of all lands to the government. Can revolution be far behind?

Who stands to profit from this ruling? The city governments through local taxes, the state governments through state sales taxes, and so on up to the federal level. This ruling gives the government what it wants most: more power and access to more money. And it has found a willing partner with whom to rob the citizenry of their rights and their homes–the unscrupulous developer.

Now, any developer with the ear of the city government can file a petition to have your home condemned and taken to make way for his new project under the guise of “serving the public interest,” a euphemism for generating more taxes, and giving Liberals more power and more money. No true Conservative should ever engage in such evil practices.

This is legal plunder by Bastiat’s purest definition. The hardest hit by this robbery will be the poor and the aged–those who can least afford to protect themselves. If and when help does arrive, one thing is certain: it won’t come from Liberal Democrats.
